Hi, I own a Suzuki Liana RXi (2006) and I recently got it's head assembly replaced. Previously, it was 1300cc and the replaced one is 1500cc. I have started facing this problem that the car's radiator is reducing water even in the morning when it's not hot and I open the radiator cap, top up the water and watch the level drop down slowly. The water level drops by almost 1 litre to 1.5 litre depending on the running of car in one day. The temperature shows normal temperature while running. I did some research and found out that this problem may be due to leakage of air in the head gasket. So to confirm it, I took off the radiator cap and ignited the engine, on revving up to just 2000RPM, bubbles started coming up the water and it started rising above and overflowed.
My question is that is my diagnosis correct? Or can there be any other reason behind this problem? Also, please share the right measures to be taken for resolving this issue. I really like my car and take good care of it and I don't want to get into a big trouble as I recently invested a lot in replacement of head assembly.
Either bubbling in the coolant or coolant loss is a likely sign of a head gasket leak. Combined, it's a 99% sure thing - just because a head gasket is new doesn't mean it was installed properly. Go to another mechanic so somebody in the business can support what you say, then go back the the mechanic who did the work and demand either a repair or a refund. Also, if just the head was replaced and not the engine block, you engine's capacity is still 1300cc.
You should also try to properly remove any air that might be still trapped in the system by properly "burping" it.
