Want to get larger offroad tires how big can I go without rubbing? Wheel size is 17 inch
All of that can happen just going into snow more than 8 inches deep my friend. I am in Canada ans know a thing or 2 about mild to full offroading which can include hill climbs, sand dunes, mudding, rocky trails in mountains, rock crawling, etc.... i live in Central Ontario where offroading is part of daily life.
These things can also happen because too much angle on a cv shaft while turning and too much torque, etc. You dont need to be mudding or rock crawling for this stuff to happen. The Tiguan is not meant to be lifted or use offroad tires. Your best bet us to find a low profile aggressivd tread mud and snow tire for dirt road driving. But in all seriousness, your approach and departure angles are bad, you dont have the suspension travel nor the ground clearance to offroad of any kind other than dirt roads or a well maintained logging road.
You can not go "offroading" in a Tiguan. Dont do it. You will break cv shafts, or control arms, or hit your tcase or trans or oil pan. Or worse you can get stuck good and have to try and get it out.

Did not answer my question, never said I would do hardcore off roading.
