Good morning, I hope this finds you well and in great spirits.
My question is this; what is the best overall actual 4WD SUV, with at least 25mpg?
I live in hoebuck (I’m a redneck hillbilly) out in the middle of nowhere, my vehicles will have to endure the wrath of Mother Nature, mudslides, flooding, and 1-2’ snow (yes FEET) and that’s all year round. And one never knows when the ole gal (Mother Nature) will blow; she’s pretty insecure and unpredictable! I’m getting up their in yrs and want something low maintenance, yet incredibly reliable. I’m sure it’s a long shot as they don’t make them like they used to. Any help would be great appreciated!

The bad news - 25mpg puts the usual wilderness-oriented ones out of the running - e.g. Wrangler, Bronco, 4Runner
The good news - RAV4s, CRVs, Subaru Foresters are very popular and reliable choices, and get 25+ mpg. What are other people in your region driving? Every time I go to ski-country, I see a lot of Subarus and the like.
If you're anywhere near as old as me, you realize you can have it all, just not at the same time.
