Morning, Scotty! I'm looking at two Sequoia's . Sequoia A is a 2008 4wd with 147k-single owner and no accidents. Sequoia B is a 2012 4wd with 118k-single owner but has had one accident. If it was a minor accident, would the 2012 be a better choice? Sequoia A was in NM it's whole life and B came from Indiana to NM. Thank you!
I would check both cars, since it is a minor accident (I assume the truck was not totaled), it worth checking it out. If the mechanic checks the car and gives OK to you, go ahead with the 2012 model year. The other thing is that you can get a better deal due to the accident.
Yaser, I'll definitely get the vehicle checked out for sure. I saw the carfax (I know we can't always trust everything a carfax says) and it was minor damage to the front bumper without an airbag deploying. I saw the service records and it looks like oil changes and servicing were done fairly often. Not completely consistent but at least every 6 to 10 thousand miles. Longer intervals when the vehicle was new but who knows if that was the entirety of the true service history. It's in great shape and looks brand new still. Front bumper and hood bumper were repainted but it looks like that's it. Also, the vehicle was shipped here new to New Mexico when it was new from Indiana so there shouldn't be any rust issues as it spent it's whole life here. It was a dealership vehicle and not a personally owned Sequoia just to be fully transparent.
If it was just a minor bumper accident and you can lower the price down go with the 2012 it also has lower miles and is newer but if the price is ridiculously higher than just go for the 08.
I would go with A just because if an accident is on record, it was bad enough for an insurance claim. It also makes it less valuable so while you could get a better deal, you'll be on the bad end when it comes time for you to sell it.
