Hey friends! Nice to meet ya,
Question:
What is the safest/durable Toyota SUV for me?
What I have:
My first car was a Toyota Sienna 1999 that I bought up North for 2k and when I moved down South the humidity rusted the shit out of it. It still is working and only has 165k miles on it (despite having no AC, and a leaky engine), but when I went to the mechanic to fix the breaks he said my car is so rusty that it isn't worth investing anymore money into it. He said I can easily find a new used car down south and it would be in better condition with no rust. I do agree with him that its time to buy a new car even though I will miss my sienna. I'm looking to buy either another used Toyota SUV or finance a new one at the dealership. My plans might be to stay down south or move back up north so I'm going to need to be prepared for snow and I can't let it rust on me again. I'm a young woman learning on my own- so I need some help and need something safe and durable.
Options:
-Option 1: Finance a new car at the dealership (take good care of the car and hope to never buy another in 30 years lol)
-Option 2: Buy a used car from a private seller or used car lot. (spend less and hope it doesn't need major repairs)
-Option A: Buy a car down south and move up north
-Option B: Move up north first and then buy a new car
(I've been researching cars and doing my own information, but I don't have a dad or uncle to help me out so I need to do things as safely as possible and not get ripped off lol)
Model's I'm looking at:
Rav4, Highlander, 4-Runner, Sequoia, Sienna
What I need it for:
-Snowy weather & for different climates/seasons around USA
-Safety**, Reliability, Long-lasting. (Don't care about colors or appearances)
-I move around a lot and need the space to store my belongings when I move
-Don't want to deal with a rust issue ever again
-Camping/Sleeping in the back (not sure if a twin mattress will fit in a RAV)
-Keeping Canvases, Paintings, Easels in the back
-**safety is important to me.
Thanks so much for your help! Drive safe friends!

I would recommend the 4Runner if you’re ok with the MPG. I believe it would be great for camping and sleeping in the back with all of the seats folded down. The RAV4 would be more cramped and it’s not long enough for your legs to be comfortable when laying down (depending how tall you are). 4x4 with the 4Runner would be perfect in all driving conditions.
You will get a better deal used. The smaller ones sound like the will not work for you. I think the 4 runner might be the.best compromise.
Based on your criteria, I would go 4runner.
I love the 4 runner and wish I could afford it 😆 but I have the exact same interest as you and believe the 4 runner would be the way to go. Highlander may be a little better than the Rav4 but 4Runner is definitely the one
