Mr. Kilmer, I was looking between a 2020 Toyota Tundra with 40k miles, 2020 Toyota Sienna with 50k miles or 2021 Sienna 500 miles , 2014 Honda Odyssey with 89k, 2017 or 2021 Chrysler Pacifica 50k miles or 50 miles, 2021 GMC Acadia with 11k, 2018 or 2021 Toyota Highlander 62k or 10k, 2020 Nissan Murano 67k, 2020 Nissan Armada/QX80 56k, 2018 Lexus GX with 14k miles, 2018 Ford Expedition Platinum 54k, 2020 Toyota Sequoia 23k, 2021 Lexus RX 5 miles, 2020 Kia Sorento 4k, Toyota 4runner 4k, 2019 Subaru Ascent 30k, 2020 Acura MDX 32k, 2018 Volvo XC90 70k, and 2021 Hyundai Palisade/Kia Telluride no miles, 2021 Subaru Outback no miles, Lincoln Corsair 1k, and a 2021 Honda Pilot Elite with 1k miles. Sorry for this long list. This is for my 73 year old grandfather, and I want a car that is reliable, and one that has many modern safety features as well. I want him to get rid of his current 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. I love your channel! (##k indicted mileage)
Woah. You gotta narrow down the field there a bit. You've got van's, trucks, SUV's, a bit of everything.
I would go with a Toyota Tundra myself. Easy ingress/egress and dependable. But you have to decide what kind of vehicle you want first.
Ok thank you. He still works, and carries a lot of cargo, but he prefers SUV/Minivan. I forgot to remove the Tundra from the list, but thank you anyways!
Of that list, stick to the Toyota’s. They are the best engineered and have the best chance to last the longest with minimal issues. You say he prefers the SUV/minivan, so have him test drive and see which of those Toyota’s he likes the best. I recommend to avoid the new generation Siennas (MY 2021 and newer) because they are only offered as hybrids and won’t last as long as a regular gas version which was offered in the previous generation (2011-2020).
In that case I would choose out of the following:
2020 Toyota Sienna with 50k miles
2018 Lexus GX with 14k miles
2020 Toyota Sequoia 23k
2021 Toyota Highlander 10k
2021 Lexus RX 5 miles (I assume this is brand new? If not, don't buy a car that was used for 5 or even 5k miles, get one with a bit more and save some money)
Toyota 4runner (4k is too low of mileage though)
As for the Toyotas to avoid, I would skip on the 2021 Sienna as it has a hybrid powertrain and the 2021 Highlander wiht 61k miles thats just absurd for this years model and you would most likely overpay.
Forget the Nissans. The Renault corporate culture destroyed their quality focus, a generation ago. Forget the Chrysler products, they are universally described by mechanics of all stripes as de facto junk. (Scotty has called the new combined company of Chrysler, Fiat and Peugeot as "the Three Stooges of Car Manufacturing). Scotty is not fond of newer GM truck models, either. And, forget Kia Sorentos, with small engines that turbo-boost into junk. Stick with the Toyotas.
