Hey Scotty, despite V8 engines being extremely expensive to maintain, which one is more reliable and are not as much of a complete maintenance hog? Would it either be the Nissan VK45DE (4.5L V8) or GM's Northstar engine (4.6L V8)?

The Northstar V8 is a ticking time bomb.

Hey Scotty, despite V8 engines being extremely expensive to maintain,

They're generally not extremely expensive to maintain. They're just gas hogs. V8 engines are typically quite reliable. It's the design flaws that make the difference. Northstar V8s tend to overheat relatively easily. If you do no towing, a V6 is fine. You didn't describe why you want a V8. Are you intending to tow?
