Which van should I buy?

Scotty, you have lots of negative things to say about Dodge, GMC, and others. I'm looking forward to retirement and want to purchase a used high top van to renovate for part-time travel and camping.

Which car company should I choose, Ford, Dodge, Sprinter, and which engine available, gas, turbo gas, diesel, turbo diesel?

Looking forward to your reply and next video which I never miss.

If you have loads of money, get a Mercedes 4x4 diesel Sprinter. If not , a GM conversion.

I just discovered that Ford also offers an AWD Transit, but I have no idea if they've augmented ground clearance at all, or how strong the chassis is or if it even has a frame. To me the Transits looks like they're made for the city. The V6 is going to be seriously underpowered (not sure if they offer V8?). I haven't driven many Fords that I liked.

GM trucks and cargo vans are a lot better than their cars so if you can't afford a huge diesel then I would go with one of their vans like the Chevy Express V8 or GMC Savanna.

@mountainmanjoe actually owns one he could help more on that.

I would stay away from FCA products so Dodge Ram and Chrysler are a NO.

You might also consider getting a Toyota Sienna and folding the 2nd and 3rd row seat😆Then it could be consider a "cargo" midsized Van.

Unfortunately the don't sell the VW Transporter vans here because those are the best vans over in Europe. Mercedes and Volkswagen are the bulk share of light commerical vehicles, diesel vans, and buses over in Europe.

I don't think I would travel and camp out of Sienna for more than a few days. That would be too cramped.

@mountainmanjoe
I would certainly consider doing it in my father's Odyssey van the Siennas are smaller than the Odyssey the Oddyssey is very spacious you know what you guys gave me a good idea in a few years I'll take the van up in the beautiful Northern California and start camping. Thanks Joe!
Jokes aside I would consider a GM van like an Express or Savanna.

They don't make mine any more 🙂

@mountainmanjoe
Was it not a Savana? There is a 2021 model of that. Even if not there is still a Chevy Express... Also he may be talking used.

No more Express/Savana 1500, including my AWD. Discontinued in 2014

@mountainmanjoe
Yeah the 1500 was discontinued but the Express and Savana cargo van still remains

the 2500/3500/4500 have different axles, suspension, transmissions etc. no AWD and they cost more. I also don't see sliding doors and windows much any more either. It took me around 2 yrs to find mine.

@mountainmanjoe
The topic writer can take note of that stuff;) New or used should be noted.
