Hi people ,

i currently have a 2009 2.4 camry with 228k km. The main issue with it is that my car consumes a lot of gas while in parking or just when it stops. While driving in the city the avg consumption i see in the dash is 11-12/100 km but the moment i stop the the avg consumption starts to climb rapidly it climbs up to19/100 km its unbelievable .

does someone can help me with this issue?
thank you

When you're stopped, you're consuming fuel and not going anywhere, right? Of course the number on your dash climbs. Everybody's does. That's how fuel economy works. There is nothing wrong with your car.

@imperator but then it sticks with 17/100 km in avg which is very high in my opinion for this car . I had a corolla and when i stop it was showing no consumption or really low .

find out your actual consumption with pencil and paper using your odometer, and volume on the gas pump, instead of the dash computer. Tips for saving fuel are in our FAQ on the front page.
