[Solved] White smoke from coolant reservoir box

Hi Forum,

I have a 2013 chevy sonic 124k miles auto. I noticed that after the car warms up, the engine oil cap opening shows a small amount of white smoke once the car is shut off and the cap is removed. Also, white smoke is inspected from the coolant reservoir cap opening, when the car is warming up to operating temp. No white smoke is inspected from the tailpipe and the engine oil is not milky. A coolant flush is was recently done at 122k miles. Is the white smoke indicative of a serious issue such as a head gasket leak?

Note: Prior to me finding this white smoke issue, the car did experience two instances of coolant rupture due to a cracked coolant hose.

Thanks.

Sounds like it's just vapor, even oil gives off vapor after it's warmed up. I wouldn't worry about it.

Is it a white smoke or it is water steam?
