Why hasn't Toyota made a true sports car?

Toyota made the Lexus LFA in 2012 as their supercar to go up against Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes AMG, etc. The car had a 4.8 V10; 6-speed automated manual with about 550 hp and only about 200ish were made.

Why hasn't Toyota made a regular sports/muscle car with that engine and transmission combo to go up against the mustang, challenger and camaro? And let's say that are making one for 2023- would you buy it?

Scotty says it is a financial matter. Sport cars have not been a good portion of Toyota sell and profit.

Correct. A good example is the Toyota Supra: they went to BMW for that.

Yaser is correct.  Keep in mind, at least on the Lexus side, they have the Lexus RC-F and the LC500, which are fast enough for vast majority of us and fairly reliable thus far.  I would take either of them (especially the LC500).

The people who want them can't afford them (or their insurance), and the people who can afford them don't want them, they want luxury SUVs, trucks and sedans because they are much more comfortable while they are stuck in traffic.

IIRC, back in the early 90's Toyota built pretty fast Supras and great handling Turbo MR2s, but they stopped because not enough people bought them.
