Scotty, you encourage people to change their own oil. My apartment complex doesn't allow people to work on their vehicles here, so I guess I won't be doing it. But it also crossed my mind that, if I change my own oil, it wouldn't show up on Carfax, and when I sold the car later on, the next owner wouldn't know how often I had changed the oil. Would they? I guess I could keep my receipts for oil and filters to show to the next owner. Thanks.
Keep your own records
I keep records on a note app on my phone, and make sure I have backups.
I have dates, mileage, and details of what I did. My records can be backed up by purchases online, and many like oil from walmart receipts. I share this with anybody buying a vehicle from me, and I tell them details, details that somebody faking maintenance likely would not be able to do, nor would likely try.
I love it when looking for a vehicle when I find one owned by somebody who cared for his car like I do.
I don't think most buyers do that much research when buying a vehicle, though they should.
You should be able to add CarFax record even if you do something yourself. You have to have CarFax account to do that though.
