its a dealership

There's your problem. Get a quote from a good independent shop.

Sounds pretty high. Is that with a new or rebuilt alternator? OEM or aftermarket? What kind of shop gave you that quote? Dealer? Chain shop? Independent?

At rockauto.com a Denso rebuilt alternator for that vehicle costs between $150 and $200 depending on how the vehicle is equipped. Of course a shop-provided part will be more expensive and you have to figure in labor costs as well, but $817 on the face of it sounds too expensive for that job.

No, it's not worth it. You can buy a remanufactured Denso alternator from rockauto.com for under $230 (excluding core charge) Remanufactured alternators have the guts replaced but the casings are reused. Typical installation time/charge shouldn't be over an hour on a 2.5 liter.

brand new . and its a dealership . i just think its highway robbber

Definitely don't take it to that place. Alternators cost at most $300, and you should only have to pay the mechanic at most 2 hours of their time. $220-$250 in labor plus the cost of the part should be around $600 at most, but I live in Ohio.Β

Are you trying to troll, or are you genuinely serious? Haha. It doesn't take a seasoned mechanic to change an alternator. Inflation isn't that high, you're definitely being ripped off.Β

i am πŸ’― percent serious . i think it is a ridiculous price from toyota world newark delware. i dont play games

Dealerships are nicknamed stealerships for a reason. That's way overpriced.
