Why are so many people getting sucked into the Genesis GV80? I get that its so luxurious, has lots of features, good value for money, and it the fact it looks like a mini Bentley bentayga, but its a Korean Car and they cost less than rivals and they have had a history of engines, transmission, and electrical problems which people are not willing to admit. IMO the Gv80 is just overhyped and I would rather spend my money on Japanese rivals like the MDX. What do you guys think?

For them, a Genesis is "the same as an AMG or M car" and much cheaper. Problem is, that's not the truth as Genesis cars are not built well at all, retain next to no value, and are just in a much lower league of vehicles. But when someone has their mind made up, it is what it is.
Exactly! I even heard delusional people say that they are more reliable than a Honda/Acura, which made me fall off my chair.
For the same reason people buy other Korean cars.
People think they are getting a bargain in a luxury vehicle and are not looking at long-term reliability. Probably a lot of them are being leased so it's not even much of a concern - except to the sucker who winds up buying it as a used car when it comes off the lease.
Why do people still buy (instead of lease) vehicles from GM, FCA, JLR, or even the German automakers? Why do people buy vehicles despite history of issues with those vehicles and that brand? It can be due to price, value, styling, comfort, has the features they want (for the price), driving something different from everyone else, they are ignorant of quality issues, they don’t plan to hold onto the car for that long (so any potential for issues doesn’t bother them), and/or ‘There is a sucker born every minute’.
