Why is my 2016 Toyota RAV4 hybrid so loud on highways.? The loudness has increased over time.
Turns out the noise was caused by worn rear wheel bearing. My husband did a ton of troubleshooting and googling. The. He tested it and fixed it. Quiet as can be once again!
@kljackel Thanks for reporting back
If the noise is coming from the rear on what I presume is a 4wd RAV, I'd look at the rear drivetrain - drive shaft, diff and CV joints, and wheel bearings. Transmissions on RAVs are next to the engine, so transmission problems would be making noise there.
You haven't given us much to go on. What kind of noise is it? Wind noise? Road/tire noise? Engine noise? Transmission noise? Differential noise? Bearing noise?
Is it whining? Grinding? Rumbling?
If possible post a youtube video demonstrating the noise and link it here.
@chucktobias transmission noise from the rear. It’s worse you accelerate. As you shift into overdrive the noise decreasing, but increases. It’s still loud either way.
