| 2007 Kia Optima - Hard start, rough idle | 9Relevance | 4 years ago | Nick Nostril | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... out that evening and within an hour car died in the middle of the road, would crank but not start. Towed to my mechanic who analyzed it and found it had a miss on cylinder. number 2. He replaced coil/plug and was able to get the car started, but still idled rough. Mechanic mentioned that it "could" be a bad throttle position sensor (TPS) but wasn't certain. Since it's an old vehicle with other issues (bad heater core, front end suspension clunk) I'm hesitant to spend a bunch of money throwing parts at the car hoping for a fix. Current status: car takes 10+ ... | |||||

| ... also. It was quiet after the repair except the steering feel is a bit light. But lately, whenever the left driver front side hit a port hole, turning right (causing more pressure on left front side of the car), etc, the left front of the car makes a deep, serious, disconcerning clunking noise as if the car, the front subframe , etc will fall apart . I pushed the left front side of the car (suggested by your episode of checking suspension) but the car didn’t seem to bounce up and down like a basketball. I think the suspension, the coil , etc , is okay? ... | |||||

| Answer to: Good first car in europe (netherlands) | 9Relevance | 5 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi, When buying a first car for a teen it is very important to look at: safety (EuroNcap results, and also vehicle mass - most people crash their first) Insurance (Some cars have expensive insurance, especially for new drivers) Part Availability (In case of a breakdown / crash - is it possible to repair?) Forgiving ride (Something that can handle inexperienced driver's mistakes) Usually I advise to look at family sedans or possibly maybe smaller hatchbacks. I do not know what's the pricing in the Netherlands, but usually a good pick is a 2004 - onwa ... | |||||
| RE: What do you think of the 2004 Mazda3 S Automatic Hatchback? It's my first car and I wanted to know if it's worth spending time and money into it. | 9Relevance | 5 years ago | JoshuaTheMechanicNoob | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi, I'm a fan of Toyota, Lexus, Honda and Mazda. They make such a reliable cars even to this day. Congrats on your new car! I think first cars are always our babies so to speak. You can always spend time and money, as long as you have priorities. If it's in a bad shape, prioritize to bring it to great performance first before the looks. I have friends that they value looks over performance, which is a waste of time and money, especially if a car has a lot of issues. Just take care of it as much as you can, maintain it always. And really own and love it, ... | |||||
| Answer to: Wrangler or Ranger as my First Car? | 9Relevance | 5 years ago | Dad2LM2 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| For a first car, for sure the ranger. They are both reasonably reliable (amazing for not being Toyota or Honda 😉) and if something does break, parts are cheap and they are easy to work on. I agree with recommendations for the 4 cylinder, which will be less expensive to buy, fuel, fix, and maintain. But the Wrangler is an off-roader. It doesn’t handle well, stop well, corner well, and if you make a mistake you’ll roll it. Very dangerous car for an inexperienced driver. (If you insist on the Wrangler, the first thing you MUST do is put on a good s ... | |||||

| Answer to: 2010 Scion tC good first car for teen? | 9Relevance | 2 years ago | Jhlee77 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| My first car in when i got my license was a 06 TC with the 2.4L Manual transmission. I loved the car to death, sat in front of it at the dealership waiting for my mom to get off work so she can bring me my money for the car that I had saved up for. It was a great fun little car, and it lasted me all through out high school and my Marine Corps career. Sadly I always knew that it burnt oil, later learning on that it was from piston rings. I was pretty good about changing the oil at 5,000 miles, but after my 2nd deployment and letting a family member borrow the ... | |||||

When i start the car, it does release some very light white fume, but it also doesn't smell like oil, more like gasoline, it fades after few minutes or seconds depending of the weather or the time the car was sitting even if the car is idling. Context (1st oil change) 2 years ago, i ran the car for months with a very heavy usage without any maintencance, until a day i was getting the oil pressure light/check engine light showing and few noises that seemed li ...
| Answer to: Which first car for $1500? | 9Relevance | 5 years ago | JoshuaTheMechanicNoob | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I agree with them too. It's fun to have a reliable but needs maintenance first car. Because it will really teach you on how to take care of your car, heck maybe become a mechanic too. So when the new car comes, you'll know how to take care of it. I would recommend having Toyotas, or Hondas too. They're just value for money. And you have to take consideration about their parts, if your local auto supply has parts for let's say, Corollas, Camry, Civics or etc. whichever car you'd like. So when you have the car, it will be easy for you to buy parts. And the ... | |||||

| Hi there, I have a 2008 lexus gs 350 awd at 137,600 miles and I'm having steering issues. So when I first replaced both of the cv axles, the vsc and traction lights were on at the time alongside the check engine light. Check engine light is for bad catalytic converter and O2 sensors (P0420 & P0430). The car became very hard to steer after the axle replacement. The car was not moving whether i shifted it into drive or reverse whenever i turned the steering wheel. It's almost as if there was no power going to the front wheels the more I turned the steering ... | |||||

I am guessing it’s the transmission but I would like some suggestions. It happens once in a while when you’re at a stop and take your foot off the gas. I checked the vin in the Toyota app and the first owner did all regular scheduled maintenance at the dealership for the first ten years. I checked through all service records, a total of about 50. I called the dealer that did the maintenance and aske ...
