| I hate to break this to you, but you picked the wrong vehicle for wanting to put lots of mileage. You are essentially putting on 2,500 miles a week which adds up quick, and these vehicles (powertrain) do not hold up well with higher mileage. You were better off with a Toyota or Honda product for high mileage applications. | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I have had the vehicle for about a 18 months, purchased with 50k as a Certified Pre Owned Lincoln! at 72k car was shifting hard took it to dealer as it was covered under warranty until 100k they informed me my clutch packs had completely failed metal in fluid dealership did a transmission rebuild and it’s been shifting fine since getting the electronic suspension replaced Wednesday as it began failing at 90k. Well the car now has 113k and Lincoln agreed to help with 40% of the repairs. My question is I use the car primarily for my business I am a courier for the State and my route is nearly 500 miles a day 5 days a week! The route is predominantly highway I change oil every 2 to 3 weeks, just did plugs transmission fluid, coolant and ptu. You think it’ll hold up if I stay on top of the maintenance? Also my route is in Northeast Colorado so mainly lots of plains and farm land long straight roads. I get nearly 500 miles out of a tank and keep Premium in her! | |||||
| Answer to: MKZ radio cuts out when engine starts & runs | 12Relevance | 5 years ago | jack62 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| That's a real head scratcher and I ain't a "radio guy". I can't see it being a Ground Issue because it works in the Key Accessory position. It will play when the car isn't running (Key ACC) and sometimes you can get it to play if you start out with the radio ON in "Key Acc" and then Start it. So basically the radio likes to play when the motor isn't running. (but you can fool it sometimes) Yet it shows that it's ON when the speakers aren't working so it has power and ground. I admit that I'm "grasping for anything that may float" but maybe it has something to do with that "Speed Compensated Volume" option in your system sound settings. Your speakers work when the engine isn't running. Your Media/Nav system has to have an input to monitor vehicle speed (voltage waveform) for that "Speed Compensated Volume" option to work. Is it possible that with the Key in the "ACC" position a voltage signal isn't provided but then when you Start the car the voltage signal is provided and it's so corrupted (shorting out/interference) that the Media/Nav system defaults to Mute? Or is the problem in the Media/Nav system itself? Is it unable to process any voltage signals to its "Speed Compensated Volume" input? It would be interesting to obtain a pinout for your Media/Nav system wiring connectors and observe the voltage inputs on that "Speed input" at Key ACC and then when the engine is running and the car isn't moving. Is the signal a discernible voltage waveform or noisy gibberish? Maybe try turning the "Speed Compensated Volume" option off but if the issue is in the Media system itself, it probably wouldn't help. Maybe check in your owner's manual to see if you can reset the system to factory defaults. ((why not try?)) .....just submitted for your consideration. Like I said, "I'm grasping" here | |||||

| Why don't you just replace the seat? the dealership may be able to suggest something. or,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, go to the dealer, sit in all the new cars, if you find one you like, have the shop manager order that seat and install it in your car. or you could spend a pile of cash on a new car, and hope for the best. | |||||
