Hi Scotty, I have had the vehicle for about a 18 months, purchased with 50k as a Certified Pre Owned Lincoln! at 72k car was shifting hard took it to dealer as it was covered under warranty until 100k they informed me my clutch packs had completely failed metal in fluid dealership did a transmission rebuild and it’s been shifting fine since getting the electronic suspension replaced Wednesday as it began failing at 90k. Well the car now has 113k and Lincoln agreed to help with 40% of the repairs. My question is I use the car primarily for my business I am a courier for the State and my route is nearly 500 miles a day 5 days a week! The route is predominantly highway I change oil every 2 to 3 weeks, just did plugs transmission fluid, coolant and ptu. You think it’ll hold up if I stay on top of the maintenance? Also my route is in Northeast Colorado so mainly lots of plains and farm land long straight roads. I get nearly 500 miles out of a tank and keep Premium in her!
I hate to break this to you, but you picked the wrong vehicle for wanting to put lots of mileage. You are essentially putting on 2,500 miles a week which adds up quick, and these vehicles (powertrain) do not hold up well with higher mileage. You were better off with a Toyota or Honda product for high mileage applications.
Sounds like you're doing everything that can be done. Good job!
Where are the zerk locations? And thank yu so much for your input it’s a great car honestly and i just wanna make it last as long as possible? How do yu feel about the walnut blasting As a way to clean up the carbon deposits that may build up due to the gtdi setup
Lubrication, lubrication, lubrication! When was the last time you changed your differential oil? Greased all the zerk fittings?
Just did ptu and diff at 100k religiously changed every 20k oil changed every 2 weeks.
The zerk fittings are at each end of the drive shaft and other joints around the body and frame that require a grease gun to lubricate. You'd have to check the shop manual for the exact locations.
