My mechanic said ecoboosts suck but I’m heading good things about them from guys like:

Scotty says stay away from the turbos. There is a lot more that can go wrong on them, and getting a turbo serviced at the shop can cost thousands of dollars. That V6 is straining really hard to pull a full size truck. The engines need to be maintained meticulously, so don't buy it unless every oil change is documented and of course always have an independent PRE purchase inspection done first.
If you like the style of a pickup and don't haul anything substantial, maybe. That EcoBoost engine is too small, if you ask me; my 1999 Ranger has a 3.0L V6 in a compact truck. My Ranger has 0.3L more displacement than that EcoBoost. The only reason that thing has any oomph is because of the combination of direct injection and the turbocharger. Without either, that truck will accelerate even slower than my Ranger.
My and my wife's Mustangs are 2017s. Hers is the 2.3L EcoBoost and mine is a 3.7L V6. She's on her 3rd purge valve already, and I'm two years into my replacement Motorcraft purge valve, the check engine light came on again two weeks ago, I scanned the car for codes today, that same P1450 code came up again. Ford quality control is seemingly nowhere to be found. This is probably going to be my last Ford product, and I'm a Ford kind of guy.
I've never seen the check engine light come on in my Ranger, by the way, I got it at 251k miles 5 years ago, I've put 50k miles on it since. It still works, too.
@justin-shepherd yeah I totally understand. Wasn’t planning on hauling anything more than stuff for when I move like tables, bed frame pieces. Maybe small 800lb U-Haul trailer. Definitely not gonna be putting it through the wringer. The QC worries me as well. 155k miles and it has all the oil changes but I don’t trust ford. Might have to look into SUVs. I just went and looked at a ridgeline but didn’t like it very much. Seemed too bulky and also dealer was shady so I passed
The rubber belt driven oil pump worries me. I doubt a rubber belt that's submerged in 200+ degree motor oil is going to last very long.
