| If you think gas is expensive, wait till you have to replace the batteries in a tesla - $22,000. Not to mention the outrageous cost of maintenance. I would stick with a nice, economical ICE. | |||||

| . @mmj I don't think it's the manufacturers lying.Perhaps a case of "confirmation bias" as the article REBUTED the claims of "half the miles" it self!-It clearly states:- "Recurrent found that tesla’s four models almost always calculated that they could travel more than 90% of their advertised EPA range estimates regardless of external temperatures."- "The research found that, on average, the cars fell short of their advertised ranges by 12.5% in highway driving" So they make it sound inserting only to then come clear and say that the claims that they state ... | |||||

| Well, it doesn’t help tesla is a shady company and the guy running the company is a nut job. And like I said I know several people with teslas who got actual range a lot less than claimed. These “300+ mile” range teslas are $50,000+. Who wants to pay that much and get only low 200-ish? Sure, ICE mpg will be less than EPA but even alot of those legitimately get more than 300 mile range. | From what I understand, the tesla as it comes from the factory was not hacked. Owners knowingly installed 3rd party remote software (Teslamate) into their car, and left it unsecured, which made it vulnerable. It's the same as if you installed a keypad entry lock on your house, and left the factory code 0-0-0-0 on it. | |||||

| Hacks happen all the time, and not just to cars. Anything man made can be man broken. Ford Pass had similar problems as well. I know everyone likes to throw shade on tesla here, but in reality all the manufacturers have cybersecurity risks. Its inevitable at this point. | |||||

| Could this be the end of the road for tesla? Not if the federal government keeps pumping billions of taxpayer (your) dollars into this company, as it has been doing for a years now. (not even counting state funding). Sleepy Joe just dumped another several billion into EV's, and manufacturers can't even decide on one charger. | |||||

The only one's a I can think about who are less cooperative are tesla. but realistically there's enough tooling and knowledge to work on them. | ... renting the Model Y on an about 2.5k Trip a few months back from Chicago to Montreal Canada, it was one of the best car experiences I've ever had. After getting used to the instant torque of the EV and one-pedal driving my G35 now feels so lethargic and unrefined in my new outlook comparison. The autopilot feature worked flawlessly for the majority of the trip which made the cruise quite enjoyable, but I did turn it off when I was going through the construction area just for an extra safety precaution.
