| ... grading system by giving their lower grades a softer name, like "Original" or call the entire line by a different name like Mevotech's "Auto Extra" line they used to have. A long time ago, Mevotech even made their horrible Auto Extra parts look identical to their Supreme X Factor parts with their signature Blue grease bulb and some unscrupulous sellers would exchange boxes so they could send out the cheap parts when the customer paid for the Supreme parts (which happened to me). One thing to watch for is what country the parts are made. Ball jointed par ... | |||||
| 3 seconds of blue smoke on cold starts. | 15Relevance | 3 years ago | westpalm124 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 1.5 seconds after cold-starting my 2013 Ford Fusion that's equipped with a 1.6L EcoBoost (ugh)/175,233 miles (not ugh), about 3 seconds worth of Blue-tinted smoke comes out of the tailpipe. What is your guess on why this occurs? Is there a substance I can pour in the crankshaft that could potentially solve this issue? | |||||

| For the Blue light, check the coolant level and add as needed. For the rest of issues, take the car back to the garage and have them fix. They messed up and they are responsible for fixing for free. | |||||

| Low MAF, tail pipe soot, odd Fuel Trim readings - 2008 Camry LE (2AZ-FE) | 16Relevance | 5 years ago | geriscan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| There's discernible soot collecting on the tail pipe of this 2AZ-FE, 2008 Camry LE. I have a Blue Driver OBD Scan Tool I'm using for raw data collection. Live data shows a reasonable short-term trim number (3.x), most of the time, long-term trim is hovering around 8. When I rev up to 2000 rpm for a minute, the short term trim goes down to near zero, but the long term trim rises to roughly 12. (Parenthetically, there's no P0102 code, no DTC at this time). Additionally, my Blue Driver scan tool registers the MAF at a very low 0.3, and the same sixty-second rev ... | |||||

| The most direct way to check for engine sludge is to remove the valve cover and look. This is easy on most inline 4-cylinder engines but a pain on Subaru boxer engines. You would need to find a good independent mechanic in your area to do a thorough diagnosis. Dealers and chain shops should be avoided. There are tips for finding a good mechanic in the site FAQ. I personally am not a professional mechanic and only work on my own vehicles and, occasionally, family and friends' cars. Scotty is currently in Portsmouth, Rhode Island so if you are within reasonable driving distance you can contact him to make an appointment. (Instructions are in the aforementioned FAQ.) Alternatively, Scotty will be returning to Clarksville Tennessee late in July if you are near that location. | |||||
| 5.7 Hemi V8 puff of blue smoke out of tailpipe on cold start | 15Relevance | 2 years ago | kcarguy | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, I have a 2019 RAM 1500 Classic with the 5.7L Hemi V8 with 68,000 Miles. It has recently gotten very cold outside and I noticed upon cold start there was a puff of Blue smoke out of the tailpipe for a second or so when the truck first started then went away. This has never happened before I was thinking this is possibly a sign on the piston rings starting to wear. What are your thoughts/suggestions on what could be causing this? Thanks. Kevin | |||||

| The Blue smoke indicates burning oil. Try changing your PCV valve to see if it helps. Otherwise, it's the valve stem seals or the piston rings or both. | |||||

| Dear Scotty, i own a 2003 ford ranger (blue) with 170k miles & manual transmission. It has a possible issue whenever im braking- just before the vehicle fully stops. The issue is while im braking, the pedal feels like ABS is on but the ABS light does not display and this happens in all and any road conditions. The truck also moves slightly to the right when this happens. Thank you for your time and great videos. | |||||

| Hello chief so after overhauling my 2GR-4wheel drive engine with the Blue smoke still coming out so I decided to changed the oil first. I flushed the vascoline synthetic 5w30 oil recommended for the car out, & I had to use a mobil oil xhp 20w- 50 for the car with and ambro oil treatment-(stop smoke)and all of a sudden the car stops smoking but when I start the car at a cold start there’s no smoke but after a long ride like 4-5hours with heavy sun light heating the car & the engine is really hot the smoke comes back very little grey from the exhaust ... | |||||
