| Hey Scotty. My family is looking for a large family van and we are wondering which of the 2 vans,(new Ford Transit 350 with a eco boost or new Mercedes Sprinter with the high output Diesel), would be better built, better quality and could serve us for a long time. Thank you! | |||||

| New 2020 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 6.0l Diesel mated to 7-speed transmission. 11,000 miles. It's an RV upfit. When I accelerate either from a dead stop or going und 5 mpg, the van seems like it loses power and jerks until it catches again and regains power. It almost always happens when going uphill. The worst case is making a turn from a traffic light on a steep hill. Feel like I'm on a bucking bronco. The traction control disable light even comes on momentarily. At speed, no issues. Had EGR replaced by Mercedes Benz under warranty and it did nothing to alle ... | |||||
| Is a t1n 2006 Dodge Sprinter a reliable choice for a full-time camper conversion? | 23Relevance | 4 years ago | Ria | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I’m currently looking for a vehicle that would make a good candidate to convert to a full-time camper. I require the vehicle to be $25,000 or less, able to stand in (my height is 56inches), decent enough on gas mileage, and a reliable engine. So far the vehicle that fits the bill is a a t1n 2006 Dodge Sprinter as a lot of people say you can get 500,000+ on them with proper maintenance. I would like to know if this is a smart decision or if there’s any better ones I should be looking at. Thanks in advance! | |||||

| Scotty I am in the market for a new Sprinter van and I want to know of the 3 engines 1 turbocharged 4 cyl direct injection gasoline or a 2 l 4 cyl turbo diesel or a 3 l v6 turbodiesel which of the three engines would be best and should I bother with 4x4 for a van this size. I live in Canada and the winters can make driving a challenge but I have always driven a rwd truck or car and am pretty good at not getting stuck. I'm leaning towards the 4cyl rwd 2l diesel configuration but I wanted your opinion on it. And if you would even buy a Mercedes van to begin wi ... | |||||

| Those Sprinters are decent. Keep in mind they are considered fleet vehicles which Mercedes makes pretty well. A guy at work he has a Sprinter he converted for camping/over landing and he loves it. | |||||

| Are Sprinters reliable? I see them all over, mainly for commercial use, sometimes fir passengers, and often as recreational van conversions. It’s a Mercedes, so that may be a clue. At the same time, there doesn’t seem to be much from Toyota or Honda as competition for this segment. What van in the same category might be able to last longer with less problems than the Sprinter? | |||||
