Are Sprinters reliable? I see them all over, mainly for commercial use, sometimes fir passengers, and often as recreational van conversions.
It’s a Mercedes, so that may be a clue. At the same time, there doesn’t seem to be much from Toyota or Honda as competition for this segment. What van in the same category might be able to last longer with less problems than the Sprinter?
Those sprinters are decent. Keep in mind they are considered fleet vehicles which Mercedes makes pretty well. A guy at work he has a sprinter he converted for camping/over landing and he loves it.
Scotty seems to say they are pretty good for what they are. But its a fleet Mercedes so you will put some money into it.
I probably would be cheap and invest in an Isuzu crew van truck thingy

My impression: typical Mercedes money pit

Your first Mercedes inspection will cost around $800, so they can tighten some bolts and look at the brakes! 😆
They took it on a trip out of town and it broke down with less than 1,000 mi. They took it to a Mercedes, but parts were not available so they coaxed it all the way back home in the next state, in limp mode. Took it to a Mercedes there, and then had to wait another several weeks for the sensor or whatever to come in.
Service is really expensive. Parts are really expensive (if they're even evailable). The diesel engines are nice and quiet. Build quality seems fine, but the vehicle itself is really expensive, and many of the systems are over-complicated. The cabin is not comfortable or well designed (typical for Euro vehicles).
Want to add a camera system or nav unit? Oops, you have to pay Mercedes hundreds of dollars to "unlock" it for you.
Vans used to be very popular every-man vehicles. For utility, for recreation. But the van era is dead now. People don't want them any more. They are opting for SUVs instead.
So why do you ask?
Thanks for the info.
Why? Ads keep popping up for an AWD Sprinter van conversion. Got me curious to them, as I know nothing about them.
