How do I fix DTC P0730 - Incorrect Gear Ratio

Hello everyone, I have a question for any one that is familiar with the work on mercedes Sprinter year 2002. A set code p0730. I don't know much about the van, owner said he took van for a glow plug change and had the following done in 8 months. All 4 glow plugs, all 4 injectors, fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel rail, ecu, wire harness in engine bay, now keep in mind he went in for a glow plug code and swap. Now after all those parts and about 7k he got the van back and drove fine for about 3 days and now goes into limp mode and code p0730. If he stops and turns key off and waits about a minute then he can drive again normally. Normally happens at highway speeds and does not changes to a higher gear and  Rev limiter at around 2500 rpm to 3000 rpm he said. I did not drive the van and I don't work on diesel engines. But since he's a friend I said I'll ask around for any information, I'll test the wiring and sensors but I'm having trouble finding wire diagrams, alldata and Mitchel1 does not have that year in their data base. Any thoughts or does any one have a wire diagram for the transmission speed sensor and location? Thank you.

(Please put a summary of the question in the title, not the vehicle model. Thanks)

How many miles on the thing? Has the transmission been maintained regularly?

This will be a job for a transmission expert.

all 4 injectors, fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel rail, ecu, wire harness in engine bay

why were these replaced?

Ok thanks, I just wanted to do some basic testing of the sensor and wires before sending him to a transmission shop as he put about 7k into this thing and can't afford to put any more into it. About 235k miles on it.

Scotty says it needs a new transmission at 8:30

I just wanted to do some basic testing

well you could take a sample of the fluid to see what it looks like.
Compare the speedometer to GPS speed to see if the speed sensor works.
Anything deeper is going to require professional level diagnostics.

About 235k miles on it.

With that mileage chances of a worn out transmission are high. Especially if he was hauling and not doing maintenance.

he put about 7k into this thing

like Scotty always says. Oil is cheap. Transmissions are expensive

Thank you.
