| Hey scotty, fan here. I just bought a 2003 silverado duramax (no emissions) LT Crewcab with 468k miles for $500. Has not ran in 2 years so i got it towed. Shoved 2 batteries, drained fuel out of tank and lines and installed new filter, new oil and filter, new water pump, put new air filter, put new tires. Finally started up and runs like a champ...question is should i keep it or get rid of it before it turns into a money pit. I believe injectors have been changed but not sure. Did i get a deal or a money pit? P.s: a/c runs cold and it struggles going over ... | |||||
| Answer to: What are your thoughts about the new Duramax 3.0l diesel engines and powertrain - 10 speed? | 22Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The only decent GM trucks nowadays are the heavy duty trucks; in this case I would bypass the 1500 and go straight to the 2500HD with the duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 mated to the Allison 10-speed. Keep in mind the rest of the vehicle especially the electronics are typical GM, and also down the line repairs on high tech diesels can be very expensive. | |||||
| Answer to: What are your thoughts about the new Duramax 3.0l diesel engines and powertrain - 10 speed? | 22Relevance | 5 years ago | Matthew Yim | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| It’s still a little early to see projected reliability of this engine, although there are some good reviews on this engine because of how smooth it is. Still, I’d probably get the duramax V8 with the Allison automatic. | |||||
| Towing a fifth wheel across the country with my 2016 Chevy 2500 Duramax | 22Relevance | 5 years ago | JonSnowMusik | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, I live in my RV full-time all over the country. I tow it with my 2016 Chevy 2500 duramax High Country with just under 60k miles on it. I am always on top of oil changes and before I hit the road 5k ago I had all the fluids changed and had the whole truck gone through. Is there anything I should be on the look out for or some kind of issue that could present itself that could really hit me in the wallet? I CAT scaled the RV and I am towing just around 12k pounds. Thanks! | |||||

He’s opened a case with the better business bureau and trying to get gm to do something about it. What do you recommend or could you help. Also I’m located in Tennessee like you Scotty! | |||||

| can I trickle charge both batteries | 21Relevance | 2 years ago | rpepper | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty, I have a 2002 Chevy duramax with 300,000 miles. I don’t drive it much and I just had to replace both of its batteries. On a previous video you mentioned this battery charger, SUNER POWER 18W 12V Solar Car Battery Charger. You said it was really good. Will it charge both the batteries by me plugging it into the cigarette lighter? The duramax has two starter batteries. | |||||

| ... engine, but the problem is the 8-speed transmission, or to be specific, the torque converter, which has been going out on people at an alarming rate. You can take your chances with it, but I would not. If you can find one, the baby duramax is the way to go. It comes only with a 6-speed transmission, and the combo is about as reliable a powertrain as you can get in a midsize truck (Toyota included). But that of course is a big "'if". There are very few left out there, and you will probably have to conduct a nationwide search to find one you want. And ... | |||||

| @emmitthayes if you’re looking at 11 or newer the 2nd gen 6.7 Powerstroke is far superior to the duramax. GM has fallen behind in my opinion with the duramax line. | |||||

| The Sienna doesn't have a great deal of room for tools & materials. Anyway, you'll want a commercial partition and dark window tint. You can build your own shelves or buy a knock down unit from the hardware store. | |||||
| Chevy Colorado vs Toyota Tacoma | 21Relevance | 5 years ago | TacomaRay | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello Scotty!! I saw your video about the Chevy Colorado duramax and thought I would share my story. My parents got me a 2017 Chevy Colorado 2.8l duramax for my 17th birthday in September 2019. Had 32k miles on it. 4 months in, the engine and trans exploded in my school parking lot. Dealer had it for weeks and said they couldn’t do anything. They told me to bring it to the original dealer. It took them almost 2 months for the engine and trans to be put in. The truck was never right after that. I had to keep bringing it back and my family got sick of it. W ... | |||||
