| ... Maybe if we "talk it through". C'mon, this is 1989 technology, if we can't help him figure this out we might as well hang-up our shop overalls and take up bird watching. So the guy disconnects the SPOUT (SPark OUTput) connection and the truck starts. The 1989 302 ford uses a Hall effect gizmo in the distributor that acts like a camshaft sensor. The computer uses it to determine the proper advance/retard of the timing. So, without the SPOUT connection plugged in, the ignition timing is being determined by the PIP (Ignition Pick-up) signal being generate ... | |||||

| Between these two types whats the diff? Out from the bottle, the Castrol edge oil is thicker than the Fuel saver but both are 5W-30. Which one will be of better use for a corolla 2013? Both seems to meet the specs on the owners manual. I am feeling the Castrol edge is causing higher fuel consumption. CASTROL MAGNATEC FUEL SAVER DX 5W-30 CASTROL edge 5W-30 A3/B4 | |||||

| I think there are about 10 -20 threads about the ford edge. You can see them by exploring the search tool above. There you can find in depth responses given by previous members and even some of Scotty's answers. For what inthrust said, I will leave this as a comment so not to hinder Scotty's ability to answer this question, if you are looking specifically for his answer. | |||||

| So I have never heard you talk about the ford edge. I've heard they're very reliable and it is extremely impossible to find them on the junkyards, especially ones newer than 2011. What is your opinion about the ford edge? And the ones between 2011-2014, is the 4 cylinder better? Or the 3.5V6 engine? I'd love to hear opinions | |||||

| Answer to: Ford Edge 2009-2010 reliable? | 26Relevance | 3 years ago | Kaizen | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I’m not sure what Scotty thinks of this specific vehicle. I much prefer a RAV4 or CRV or Venza or Highlander or the same era as the edge. With that said, if you have your heart set on the edge, stay away from the EcoBoost engines at the very least. I know Scotty isn’t a big fan of those. I also recommend researching the transmission of the specific car. It was also during the era when GM and ford built a transmission together. Not sure how good it is. | |||||
| Answer to: What should i choose as my first truck? 2020 Ford F150 XLT V8 5.0 or a Toyota Tundra. | 40Relevance | 5 years ago | Mod_Man | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I say Tundra, but not because I'm a Toyota fan. I'm not. I've been a ford man all my life. And when it came time for them to stand behind their product, they showed me exactly what they think of their customers. I'll tell this story again, so if you've heard it just skip my reply: I purchased a brand new 2018 F150 XLT Crew Cab with the 5.0L V8 and 10-speed automatic. It had 5 miles on it when I took delivery. By 800 miles, it had gone through 2 quarts of oil. I took it to the dealer. They told me "Its just breaking in. Add some and the usage will go ... | |||||
| Answer to: Scotty - thoughts on Ford Edge(s)? | 26Relevance | 4 years ago | Kaizen | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| While I am not a big fan of ford products, I must say the edge impressed me when I rented one for a week. Granted it was only a week, so I have no real long term experience with the car. My only complaint was the door jamb had a sharp piece of chrome. While I can’t give it a personal recommendation because I only had it for a week and I have never had to maintain or repair one, if it must be an edge, get the non-turbo. It surprisingly reminded me of my old X5 in size and scope. | |||||
| 2017 Ford Edge intermittent dash warning light with P051B | 26Relevance | 4 years ago | Mark 13 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi all, a friend of mine has a 2017 ford edge with 80000 miles. The dash warning light has been coming on for awhile and then going out every so often during a 500 mile trip. The edge is running perfectly fine other than the light coming on every so often. I scanned the codes for her and the only one that came up was P051B. I have researched this and was wondering if anyone has had experience with it. I suspect it is the sensor failing but wanted to get the groups opinion. Any ideas? | |||||

| Scotty I have a 2017 ford edge Titanium V-6 AWD 36,000 miles with the very touchy brakes at low speed. Dealer said nothing wrong with brakes, but they are so sensitive, I have to just touch the pedal and it throws me forward each time. Is the booster bad? Other owners have same issue on edge forums. Is there a way to fix this problem? Thank you so much Scotty from Axel in Chicago, long time viewer. 🙂 | |||||
| Talk Me Out of It: Ford Edge | 39Relevance | 5 years ago | Kaizen | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| So I rented a ford edge the past week. It was the only SUV/CUV available in a tight rental market. The edge was a very fun SUV/CUV to drive. I think it hits the perfect size of not being too big or too small. The Intelligent AWD was fascinating to watch at work, as the car had a visual of which wheels had power. And it picked up speed well. Made me miss my BMW X5. My two criticism are an acceleration lag from pedal to response, probably because of the turbo. (The other possibility is the drive by wire isn’t as responsive.) And one could potentially cut ... | |||||
| 2018 Mustang GT - question regarding Ford's recommended oil specs | 38Relevance | 5 years ago | TheShaolinMonk | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty and friends. I have a 2018 Mustang GT, manual. For the 2018+ model, ford recommends a fuel efficient engine oil with the A5/B5 rating (at 5w-30 here in Australa), such as Castrol Magnatec which my dealer uses. I track my car every couple of months and I spoke to someone from Castrol who said that for track use, their Castrol 'Edge' is a better product, but it doesn't come in A5/B5, only A3/B4. As I understand (and as explained to me by the Castrol rep), the A5/B5 grade translates to the oil being more fuel efficient, as it acts a little bit 'thin ... | |||||

| What are your opinions on the 2011-2014 ford edge? I have a friend who has one with 250k miles and still runs strong. I am about to buy one with 125k and when you drive it, it feels like brand new, with absolutely no problems. Out of curiosity I have been to many and many and many massive junk yards and it is so damn rare to find ford edges there. Where I live there are hundreds of them and as far as I know, the transmissions are strong and engines are strong as well (I'm talking about the 3.5L V6, not the 4 cylinder one) I understand that they have that p ... | |||||
