| On my 2002 Ford Taurus SE with 145,769 miles, after driving for more than 10 or 15 minutes when you come to a stop the oil light comes on, when you accelerate the light goes off and stays off until you come to a stop again. So its off as long as you are driving, but comes on when you stop. I changed the oil pressure sensor because some people on you tube said they had the same problem and fixed it by changing Oil pressure sensor. This however did not fix my problem. What can it be? The oil has been changed regularly and the vehicle has been very well maintai ... | |||||

| I'd be a little leary of it unless it was owned by an older person, or was not beaten the crap out of. Those model Taurus have their water pump internally mounted and driven by the timing chain. An impending failure isn't obvious like a normal car, and if it's not caught in time, it will dump coolant in the oil pan and wreak havoc on the engine if it doesn't destroy it outright. You will want to replace that as preventative maintenance, and it may be expensive. | |||||

| I found a 2015 ford Taurus SHO on Facebook marketplace with less than 70K miles on it. Thoughts? please don't mention anything about hondas or Toyotas because that is the answer everybody goes to and frankly it doesn't help me out. The owner says it has been well taken care of, documents of oil changes every 5k miles, and a transmission fluid change is also on record at 30K miles. runs smooth and shifts perfectly I'm tempted... | |||||

| The newer Ford Taurus are kinda meh. They are not bad but they don't have a long lifespan due to the Ecoboost engine in some them. It's a considerable choice. | |||||

| Hey Scotty, I’m looking at a 2016 Taurus Police interceptor with 125,000 miles as a first car. I know the water pump on these engines are a weak point, are there any precautions I can take to make sure it lasts as long as possible?, and what are some signs of a bad water pump? Thank you | |||||

| I would avoid it. See my post below about the water pump issue: also that has the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 (and 2010 was the first model year on the Taurus that it was offered) which can wear out and that one is already at 135,000 miles. | |||||

| I got a 2014 Taurus SHO with 101K mi from my friend mechanic. He sold it to me for $8500.The car is in a really good shape, paint is like new, brakes, oils. I know about the PTU and water pump issues, the question that I have is: Would it be a good idea to buy bigger turbos for this car, but tune them to make the same power as it did (365-370hp), basically making the turbos do less work. Would that help with the longevity? | |||||

| I was sold my grandpa’s 2006 Ford Taurus Se after it was decided he could no longer drive. It had sat in his garage for about 13 years mostly only driving him to and from church and grocery in the village. It had no rust that I knew of and only 35000 miles when I bought it from him about two years ago. It now has rust on the inside passenger floor because there is a leak of unknown origin. It leaks when it rains. Also there is now a problem with my passenger side flasher. It doesn’t blink when stopped but seems to while I’m driving is that even possible? t ... | |||||
