| ... throttle body thoroughly cleaned and that made a huge difference. I have recently started to care more for the frame with oil undercoatings at the place called NH Oil undercoating in Concord New Hampshire to keep my frame in good shape and protected from the road salt here in massachusetts. I want to keep this truck for at least 500,000 miles. Do you have any suggestions or warnings about this truck? | |||||

| I have no personal experience with it, and generally a dim view of warranties - but supposedly Ziebart undercoating on a new vehicle has a 10 year transferable warranty. Did you get any paperwork on this? (If not, could actually be a Brand X job) Anybody in the forum every make a claim on a Ziebart warranty? | |||||
| RE: Does Rustoleum work? | 12Relevance | 4 years ago | Justin Shepherd | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I would redo what you can get to. If you have a grinder, use a wire brush attachment and take it down to bare steel, then prime and paint it with regular Rustoleum paint, not the rubberized undercoating stuff they make. Anything rubber will trap moisture and oxygen. | |||||

| Ive never done it, cant say anything for sure. I see no issue with it structurally, but i think wherever you drill you'll be removing the undercoating, therefore exposing bare metal. I'd imagine you'd have to apply something to not allow rust to build up there. | |||||

| ... your story, I get mixed messages. On the one hand, you want to know how much money you should spend on this Element not wanting to spend too much. On the other hand, you already spent money on extravagant items like undercoating, magnaflow exhaust and super sound system to make this a daily driver when stock parts are adequate and less money. Your priorities should be to have a safe, legal, reliable, well maintained mode of transportation first. Then, if you want, personalize it, but realize that you won't get all the money you put into it back when it's ... | |||||

Most likely the best deal you are going to get is MSRP. Pay attention at every step for sneaky tricks that dealers use to tack on extra fees and costs in the deal. Don't pay for $500 pin stripes, useless undercoating, or even that TruCoat paint protection. If they insist on charging more than MSRP walk out the door and find a more reasonable dealer. I checked the frame, I don't see any rust holes but the undercoating has been redone. The car sat 2 years inside a garage though. The real mileage is unknown to me as the KITT dash doesn't display it. The seller claims that it has 25k miles but I don't believe it. Should I buy this car as a weekend car? | |||||
