Hello Scotty, I’m curious about your thoughts on 2 anti rust treatments. One is called «fluid film» and it is Lanolin and are made of sheep fat.. The other one is Mercasol that is a wax oil, and it gets hard when it cure/dry’s .. I live in a city that they use a lot of salt.. what’s your thoughts…. Kindly regards Ronny Andresen
It's going to cost you a lot of money to keep the vehicle treated with products like that, and results will be limited. You can delay the rust a bit , but not eliminate it.
As a cheaper alternative, consider simply keep the vehicle clean, making sure to wash the salt from the undercarriage. (most automatic carwashes offer underbody cleaning)
I've had good success with Fluid Film, spraying it underneath winter-use vehicles each fall. Nothing stops rust but if you get good coverage on exposed parts (I use a paint sprayer) it is slowed down considerably.
Watch the movie "Fargo" where the guy and his wife are at the car dealer trying to sell them undercoating.
Hey, they put that Tru-Coat on at the factory! 😆
Is this true, or a scam
it's neither of those extremes.
Like I said before, it holds off rust a bit, but it's expensive.
come back every 3 or 4 years, it could exstend my cars body, by 15 years.
It's just the usual sales schmoozing. You don't actually believe do it you?
Ok, but you talk about self spraying , but this to dealerships (competitors) strips down your car, removes covers, and they also use thin hoses, to spray inside metal bars and doors and hard to get places. They said if I come back every 3 or 4 years, it could exstend my cars body, by 15 years.. Is this true, or a scam…?
