| You can call a Mercedes a work of art - this does not make it a thing you'd want to own. we do not know what they meant, complexly? integration? shape? looks? To me, the Toyota PSD (Power Split Device) is a work of art, because it's super simple mechanically, but super sophisticated in it's design. And generally, It doesn't have to be pretty to work, it definitely doesn't have to be pretty to last. | |||||

| tesla has been making EVs since 2008 (the Roadster) and 2012 (Model S) yet their quality consistently ranks in the bottom of reliability surveys. . The Model Y is not a work of art, either aesthetically or mechanically. Their quality is still poor, and let’s see how they hold up 10 years down the road. . Unfortunately, in my state of California the Model Y has overtaken the Toyota RAV4 in terms of sales of new cars for 2022. So, ‘work of art’ or not, too many fools are still falling for the unproven technology. | |||||

| Well tesla really makes rich man toy cars doesn't care about having them fixed sometimes people weigh three four months for spare parts when they break or are in racks and need parts that they don't stock. No Toyota does make the best cars you can mess with plug and hybrid it's the only problem is most plug-in hybrids are very very limited range because they don't have large batteries like the pure electric cars do. But being tired products they're decent though in reality you're probably better just buying a straight hybrid Toyota car and not mess with one ... | |||||

| Hey Scotty I'm a Driver in Austin/San Antonio and I make sure I use Endurance custom car warranty for all my vechiles to have minimal unexpected costs of maintenance due to the fact I drive over 60k miles a year. I called regarding covering teslas bc I wholesale rent out a Dual motor model 3 2022 & others since December 2021. I've been notified Endurance won't cover any of them nor tesla themselves if i got my own; however, when it comes to Toyotas and Lexus they cover them over 500k miles even the electrical ones coming out. | tesla’s are not well built and have reliability issues relating to their electronics and materials. Also, tesla does not make repair information known to independent mechanics, so any future repairs your dad will need for his tesla has to be done with them only. Out of warranty and full of high tech (that have not been fully tested and proofed out) it will be very expensive. Also, EVs are in their infancy and will continue to get better over time (just look at evolution of computers and phones over time). My recommendation to your dad is to just lease on ... | |||||

| For the sake of argument, assume that tesla’s are of decent quality. The biggest problem towards longevity is the battery (and this is true for any EV). The projected lifespan of a battery is about 8 years. At least that is how long it the warranty is. Maybe longer if you always regular charge. Maybe shorter if you always super charge. After that, you are on the hook with tesla to change out the battery, which is $$$. For some folks that get a car every 5 years, it’s no big deal.
