Hi there,
I'm driving a 2002 Toyota Camry LE V6 I inherited from my father. It has ~210,000 miles on it and the transmission fluid has never been changed as my father was under the assumption that it's "lifetime". (Not too bad for 20 Michigan winters :chuckle: )
I've heard that once someone has gone this far without changing the fluid it's best to just hope for the best as new fluid will cause build-up to come loose and cause a blockage which would lead to overheating. I have also heard that a flush from a shop with a pump that can circulate the fluid with a lot of pressure could cause the build-up blockages to be pushed through.
So now I'm curious whether or not to get my fluid replaced as I don't want to cause harm. I believe that new fluid would fix an issue I have where I experience shuddering between 35-50 mph when at constant throttle. I've heard this is a torque convertor issue but I'm also wondering if it could just be dirty fuel injectors (which I imagine is as simple as running a PEA fuel treatment through the car (I guess I should try this first)).
If there's any input you could add I would love to hear it!
Best,
Jey
