Hi Scotty! It's my first time on this forum, but I've been watching you for years!
I picked up an 02 Suburban 4x4 about a month ago for cheap. It has 290,000 miles but I honestly can't tell because it runs/drives/shifts like a dream, all the electrical/physical parts work, and the pain/body is still in very good shape. It has a pretty bad oil leak coming from the rear main seal according to my mechanic though. He didn't recommend I fix it because it would cost about close to what it's worth to fix the leak lol. He just said keep checking it and don't let it get low. I've figured out it's leaking about a quart every 500 miles. It's definitely not burning oil, but it leaves little baby puddles everywhere I go!
I tried that Blue Devil stuff already without any luck. Is there a better product out there? Should I try another bottle of Blue Devil even though I'm not due for another oil change for another 6k miles? Is my use of full synthetic oil making it worse? Would switching oil weights help?
I'm currently running 10W30 in there and I live in Georgia.
I've dealt with oil leaks before and have always ignored them, but this one is the worst yet lol.
I've had great luck with at-205 reseal but it's hard to find the stuff now. If that doesn't work you'd have to pull the transmission and replace the seal
Thanks Scotty! Would you recommend waiting until my next oil change to use it since I already have Blue Devil in there? Or can I use it now?
It looks like I can still get it at Advance Auto Parts!
I'd wait until next oil change, who knows what the combination of both products might do in there.
If it's already leaking, synthetic will make it worse.
