04 Lancer Crankshaft Position Sensor

Hi guys,

I've got an 04 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally Edition, I've got a P0335 code (Crankshaft positioner sensor A circuit) and my car currently will not turn over or start whatsoever.

It all started a few months back when I noticed my car started losing power sporadically after driving for a long time. I Borrowed a diagnostic tool from a friend, found out that cylinder one was misfiring, and found that the little curved node had broken off inside the cylinder (after fishing with a magnet, I found a lot of metal shavings but nothing else, so it's not obstructing the cylinder or anything). I replaced the sparkplug and took it for a test drive and it was pleasantly surprised by how strongly my car was pulling on the highway.

This initial drive after replacing my sparkplug was great, however, after replacing it, I noticed that when starting the car, my turnover was very slow, stressed and forced and took long to fire up, taking longer each time, barely firing up. after taking another look at the engine, I discovered  the wires for cylinders 1 and 3 would not really go back on all the way due to a horrible crappy rubber design, so when I tried to put them on all the way, they just "squished" down and didn't solidly snap into place (My new ones click into place easily and the rubber is much more firm).

So for the past few weeks I've been dealing with slow, ever increasingly painfully slow *Barely* turning over starts to the point where it stopped and I got the P0335 code, after resetting the car battery, the car started turing over strong again, however this pattern of the car starting well initially, and then ever increasingly slowing down over the span of maybe 20 starts tot he point where it stopped completely and resetting the battery did not work.

Today I just received my new spark plug wires, and it was extremely satisfying to feel them click into place, as opposed to "squishing them down" only to have them bounce back to being a quarter inch above their intended position.

I think the reason the power was really bad was mostly due to the wires not making contact, I did have a cylinder 3 misfire code during this time, I believe due to these garbage 17 year old wires, but now that I've replaced them and the car should be in a running state.

I think the issue that was causing the problem was solved, via changing the wires, but now the positioner sensor code is what's showing up on the diagnostic, and the car will not turnover at all. any suggestions or ideas? My battery is good and boost doesn't help.
