06 Honda Accord shutter at 30 MPH

We have a 2006 Honda Accord EX with a 2.4L engine and automatic transmission. The car has 148,000 miles and we are starting to notice a shutter around 30 mph. We took it to a transmission shop, and they told me that the torque converter is starting to go and that you can’t just replace the torque converter on this car as it is part of the transmission. Is that accurate?

I was wondering if we should try the Lucas Stop slip treatment that Scotty talk about. However, can this be done on a Honda since they use slightly different transmission fluid?

The shop is lying to you.  The torque converter can be replace and it costs about $200 for the part.  If it is the torque converter, Lucas will not help.

The torque converter is a separate part but since the transmission needs to be removed to get at it, and a huge part of the cost of transmission replacement is labor, that would be the time to install a rebuilt trans as well. You need to find a shop that doesn't lie to you though to do the work.

Sound's like you should get a whole new transmission. Ebay is good with the money back guarentee.

It is never a good idea to buy something like a transmission from eBay.
