Hello Scotty I just purchased a 2008 Silverado 1500 LT with the 5.3 L V8. Rear wheel drive.  Has 110,000 miles. Paid 10 grand for it.  Good deal or no? It Shifts like a dream, heat and AC work great , and the only two things I have to get fixed or a air fuel ratio sensor and clean the throttle body.  Is there anything else I should look out for?  And as far as I know the differential fluid has never been changed, in the entire life of the vehicle should I change it or leave it alone?

I would go through the rear diff like Joe said.  I would also check zerk fittings on the u joints and squirt some grease them too.  Most people seem to ignore these lubrication points until the u joints fail.

Gear oil can last a pretty long time. But when I get a new vehicle, I like to know its condition so I know where I stand. If you pop the diff cover you can get a look at the fluid and the gears and see how the truck's been treated, or what you can expect from the rear end. If the fluid is still pristine, then put it back in. If it's dark or full of junk or water then change it.
