Hey Scotty, I saw your video about the 10 ohm resistance to drain the capacitors of the car for fix. Would it also work on Hybrid cars?

I have a hybrid highlander 2006… thanks!

You can do it but if you're troubleshooting a driveability issue like poor acceleration or bad idling it's not the way to go.

All that does is erase the KAM (Keep Alive Memory) ((RAM)) in the ECM and modules.

In my opinion it just complicates the troubleshooting and if you haven't identified the issue and repaired the problem first, it's not the best "go to" 1st step.

So let's say that you've owned the car for years and suddenly you're experiencing a drivability issue. It's not the KAM unless the computer is setting a KAM code and most times that's because the computer is losing the KAM power when the car is turned off.

I'll post that video and if you listen closely Scotty is referring to vehicles which have been previously repaired and the mechanic didn't perform the final step to clear all the codes in the ECM or modules.

You're better off identifying the drivability issue and then repairing what's causing it.  After that, if you don't have access to a high dollar bidirectional scanner you can try erasing the KAM

Thanks for the answer…
My case is that I was having “running lean” codes and this code p0505 “idle control system” and I think is because one of the intake hose was cracked. I changed the intake hose and now car works perfectly… but that code p0505 keeps coming back… so I thought I could try erasing the KAM to see if it clears the code… since the car is not presenting any problem at all.
Other than that I guess I would have to try to clean the throttle body and valve… because really cant find any problem…
My question was more regarding if the procedure will damage anything in a hybrid car, if its safe to do it.

Thank you !
