Hi, I have a 2021 Ford Explorer XLT EcoBoost 4cyl 10 Speed Transmission car that I bought new. Currently has just over 12k miles. Shortly after purchase, I started having rough shifting in the lower gears, the car would rock when parked and shifting from Park to Forward or Reverse and from Reverse to Forward after backing out. I have also noticed the Hill Assist will not hold the car after several seconds, and once in a while, when getting in the car after being parked overnight, the brake pedal will not go down the first or second attempt when pressing down to start the car. I have had the car in with the dealership 3 times. Things have been done but I continue to have problems. I like the car, but not happy with these issues.
It's under warranty and the dealer's responsibility to fix it properly or invoke your state's lemon law and unload it. How much can you like a car that can't seem to be fixed by the people who made it?
Sadly this is what Ford has become.
Their interiors are nice, the driving experience is great - but they're just absolute junk.
This is true for their entire lineup has became both unreliable and very expensive to repair.
My advise is to sell, you can still probably get close to MSRP for it, and get something better - like a Highlander.
Those also have powertrain issues on non-hybrids, so probably a Hybrid - Toyota now warranties the hybrid drivetrain for 8 years or 100,000 miles and the battery pack for 10 years or 150,000 miles, so IMO that's a safer bet. It also gets the same gas millage as a non-hybrid Corolla.
No one knows how to repair these, you're probably looking at least $5k for the transmission -
no one knows how to fix that pile of garbage, ford won't let people have the information as to how to fix them, so probably the only solution is replacement and they're too new and too unreliable to get a used one.
This entire car is a ripoff, the only reliable engine (not an EcoBOOM) is available only to the police (something tells me Ford won't allow you to buy a reliable engine on purpose, although it might be out of sheer incompetence).
What did the dealer do to your car? Did you scan for any codes? Did you do anything to the car?- Do you drive conservatively or like a maniac?
