'15 Jeep Patriot transmission noise

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2015 FWD Jeep Patriot, 121k miles, with a 5-speed manual transmission that makes noise. I first noticed it around 20 mph, and it only gets louder as I go faster, but it does not change when shifting gears. It does go away when pressing in in the clutch or when the accelerator is not needed to maintain speed. I have taken it to the dealership and they stated it was an internal bearing and to replace the transmission.

I took it for a second opinion at a local shop and they stated it was the final drive in the differential and to replace the transmission.

Between the first and second opinion, I have researched and found that I have the T355 transmission and a lot of folks replaced the input bearings located on the driver side and this has fixed the issue. Do you have any recommendations on further diagnosing it, taking it in for a different opinion and going with which it leans, or to replace the transmission or car?

I would replace the input bearings first and see where that gets you.
