A came across your YouTube channel a few months ago and having been watching your videos. Your knowledge of cars is impressive but what I find most impressive is your honesty and how you've made a successful career sharing your knowledge/experience with the rest of the world.
I've never heard you talk about antique vehicles so if this is not the proper place for questions with cars that old I completely understand, but I'll ask just in case.
I have a 1929 Model A Ford that I've bought a new distributor for. It came with a 2 piece distributor shaft. The problem I have is the new upper shaft will not drop into the original lower shaft, which sits down in the engine. It appears that the new upper shaft has a slighter wider notch that will not sit down into the lower shaft notch. The new distributor also came with a new lower shaft but I guess I was hoping the notches would be the same and I could just lower the new shaft notch into the original lower shaft notch but it's not precisely the same dimensions to work. Am I going to have to disassemble the engine to replace that lower shaft? Any information or advice you can give would be much appreciated. If not, I completely understand on such an old vehicle. Keep up the great work, love what you do! 🙂
if I were you I would replace the lowest axle for the new one because the distributor and the new axle fit together perfectly. if the old shaft and the new distributor do not fit completely, this can eventually lead to wear or damage. Also check hagerty on YouTube they have a video where they rebuild a Ford model A 4 cilinder maybe that can help You
