I was wondering what everyone thinks about a 1973-79 Ford F-Series truck as a first vehicle and what would be the best engine/transmission/series? I also am wondering any issues these trucks may have. I am also interested in 1978-79 Ford Broncos as well.

That's pretty old to use as a daily driver. It could be a fun first car/project car but I'd look for something newer if you plan to drive it everyday or a lot.

Putting any age related things aside (rust, leaks, worn parts) (79 is old for a daily driver). I would recommend the 300 I6 paired with the 4 speed manual with the granny gear (t19 I believe).
