Hi Scotty I have a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado and my mechanic said a couple of the freeze plugs are leaking I was told it might be easier to use a rubber type of freeze plug so it's accessible to install because otherwise he was saying you may have to remove the motor to get at these rear freeze plugs that are leaking so he recommended these rubber ones that you can maneuver better and put in the hole other than the actual metal ones that they use normally. What's your opinion is that something that I should do is use the rubber ones are they of decent quality?
I was thinking can I use high temp silicone and silicone around the freeze plugs would that be enough of a fix so they'd stop leaking?
PS car only has 30,000 mi's on it , it's a front wheel drive automatic, it's from Texas I'm the second owner.

No. They're corroding and replacement is the only way to fix them.
