My son has a 1980 chrysler Lebaron, it was running fine, he shut off then the next day it wouldn't start. So, we replaced the alternator it started up fine he drove it for a week, it broke down again, we repeated above steps with the same outcome. Can you help me?
Thank you for what you do.
Does the starter crank or is it completely dead? Have you tested the battery? Checked the 42-year-old cables and connectors for corrosion?
What Chuck said. My brother had a similar problem years ago due to a bad negative cable.
Well first start by having the battery tested could be a week battery if that checks out okay I would test the alternator that thing is so freaking old you get a part for it who's to say a part that's 42 years old it's even going to work. What is the alternator does work then I would suspect a wiring fault somewhere loose connection old worn out wiring that's corroded between the alternator and the battery
