Hey Scotty, been tooling around with an 81 Celica I rescued from a garage where it had been sitting since 94. It’s in storage for the winter now but I’m considering an EGR delete and install of a Weber carb this spring.
When I first got it all I really had to do was clean out the tank and the fuel filter and spray some carb cleaner in it and it started right up (22r, what do you expect). Since then I’ve done oil change, brakes, changed the belts, new tires, and that’s pretty much it.
Still have some issues with it bogging down when accelerating. LC engineering sells a kit for the EGR delete and Weber install. You think it’s worth doing? For me it wouldn’t be for performance but more for simplifying maintenance and getting rid of a bunch of those vacuum lines. Any thoughts? My goal is just to have it and drive it for a long time, not looking to resell.
It has 56k original miles and a 5 speed manual trans.
What are your thoughts on this second generation of Celica??
Sure I'd put a Weber on it would make it interesting
