Hi Scotty I am 15 and looking to buy a Jeep Wrangler 1984 cj 7 from a private party in New York New York the description says that it has a new transmission would it be a good purchase and is there anything that should make me look away from getting this. I live about 5 minutes from the great sacandaga in New York right at the beginning of the Adirondack park.

Check for RUST!!!! Frame, body, brake lines, also cracks in the frame around the steering box. Is it an automatic or manual trans? Also look for leaks and check fluid levels.
BTW, technically the Wrangler came out in 1987, the CJ-7 was 1976-1986.
Mainly you want to make sure it's not rusted and beaten to death. Also best to stick with one that's stock since a lot of those old Jeeps have been modified and those modifications frequently are of poor quality.
