I have a 1985 Dodge Charger I've been a mechanic for 25 years I recently bought a house in the country and found this charger in my barn it is totally rushed free 5 speed I am not a dodge fan except I believe dodge is job security for me... My question is is this old charger worth putting back together and if so where the hell can I find some parts for things like shift linkage or missing camp finders destruct or shot one's actually broken can't find those.... The owner reason why I am interested in this car is because when I was a little kid I got a toy of one and a happy meal you remember the old Dodge ram page happy mill toys remember those lol lol

Generally speaking, the 1985 Charger was not a desirable car. I fully understand the sentimental aspect of wanting to tinker with it, don't get me wrong.

As you mentioned though, parts are hard to come by and some pieces are not cheap. They aren't really something you can source from a junkyard locally. It would be a lot of Ebay, etc. to find what you need and it could cost more than you would think.

If I were you, I'd research my parts list just to see what the cost looks like before starting in on it. As I said, please understand I'm NOT knocking your desire to build it back up. But sometimes the off the wall cars like that wind up being cost prohibitive once the math is done. And hey, if not, then at least you know what to budget for.

I remember those. They were based on the Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon twins, which in turn were based on a design from what at the time was Chrysler's European division (Simca/Talbot).

They're not terrible but not exactly great either. Since you can do the work yourself, if it's basically solid and you can find the parts it needs at decent prices it could be a fun project to knock around with. As @Mod_Man recommends, do get all your ducks in a row in terms of what it really needs, parts availability, and cost before jumping into it.
