How to find transmission oil leak?

So as I have said previously my 1990 celica 5S-FE had a failure with the engine where there is a huge leak and after doing some hunting I found it that it was transmission fluid from the red color and it was ONLY under the transmission pan and not the oil pan. Transmission fluid filled the skid guard, reached all the way to the suspension and soaked the bottom and top of the transmission where wires were even though dipstick reads full still. what could be the cause of this leak and how do I fix? Transmission drop required? Also to add on when I put the car in gear it’s not always very smooth sometime when at full stop the car quickly jerks forward and backwards with a stiff shifter.

Transmission cooler lines would be a prime suspect, but on a car over 30 years old it could be almost anything including transmission seals.

Very great guess in my opinion. Googled 5sfe transmission cooler lines and they are right in the area of where it’s leaking from. But I think it’s also from transmission seals because it’s also leaking on the back and a lot of other places. Assuming this will lead to transmission being dropped? (Great excuse for a manual swap)

Whether the transmission needs to be dropped depends on what's leaking. Certainly if torque converter seal is shot you need to drop the trans for that. If leaking at the axles it might be possible to replace those seals without dropping the trans.
