I have owned my 1990 Corolla for 29 years , It has 218k miles . I have had the transmission replaced 2 times due to leaks. The current transmission is now leaking, my mechanic replaced some kind of axle seal last week but now it’s leaking again. I’m sure my mechanic knows what he is doing. He has a lot of experience + a thriving business. What’s up with these transmissions ? Are they just prone to leaks? How often should I have to top off the trans fluid? Thank you

If its still leaking from the transmission seal then maybe the input shaft is damaged OR he damaged the seal putting it in.

It took me a while to learn how to reply, it’s late but I wanted to say thank you. From what my mechanic told me the input shaft is worn/damaged.
He says that his transmission guy could possibly repair the leak if he can find the part (the shaft that is worn) - Do you have any idea where I could get this part ? - I’m a very conservative driver & have owned this car for 29 years but this is the 2nd transmission that has went bad on me due to leaks. I really need to save my old car , I really appreciate the help
