Hi Scotty,

I am a great fan of yours. I watched 99% or more of your videos several times over since 2007.

I am asking you about my 1990 Honda Accord. I am the original owner and it has about 130,000 miles. I have never had any major trouble with this car until the stay at home orders came into effect in March 2020. This car with almost a full tank of gas was sitting in my driveway for 4-6 months and I did not drive it. About a month ago, when I started to drive the car, the car does not run normally and shakes a lot. In the morning when it is cold, it stalls out and the engine shakes like crazy, and it takes me at least three times to start the car. I have to press on the gas all the way down for it to start. The RPM is not 1,000, but only 400-500. I took it to my mechanic, which he is experienced, but he works out of his home, like you. So far, he has changed the starter (I needed it since the starter was dead), he then changed the ignition lock cylinder (sometimes I had to jiggle the old one). He also checked the OBD1 code and got honda code 43, which says fuel delivery system problem, so he changed my fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, and gave me 4 new sets of spark plugs, and changed the oil. My problem still did not go away. Yesterday, my mechanic changed the 02 sensor, and it also did not fix the problem. When I put the new 02 sensor in, it made the problem a little bit worse, now my check engine light comes on more often than before. Just like you mentioned, I get all of my parts from Autozone. My mechanic says the last thing I need to change is all 4 fuel injectors, but he does not guarantee this will solve my problem. I am turning to you for help because I asked my mechanic that I learn from you "do not guess, test," but he says there is no such a test for fuel injectors. I went to your website and I learned that if I buy that EFI quick probe, which they, unfortunately, they do not ship to California to test my fuel injectors. Instead, I was able to order a handheld automotive car fuel injector tester pressure system diagnostic tool 4 pulse modes 12v scan tool on amazon. My mechanic is very experienced and I have been with him for many years and he has fixed everything in the past quickly such as my timing belt with no problem.

Please, please help me, I am turning to you for guidance and experience. Please direct me as to what I should do as soon as possibly, so I don't have to waste more money.

Anytime you all want to come to LA, I will happily be your tour guide and I will show you Hollywood and all the tourist sites to show my appreciation to you

I'm thinking major vacuum leak or something like that. Sounds like you've replaced all fuel issues... injectors are 95% of the time not the problem.

@cjbman
Thank you for your reply. From your experience, why would you say that? At would mileage do you think I should change the fuel injectors ... I have 130k mileage on it and I am the original owner. Thank you for your time!

Just for shits and giggles id disconnect the cat at the exhaust manifold to see if it was a glogged cat. Im sure your mechanic already checked for vacc lines and cleaned the IAC. Checked the air filter. I also expect that he also did a fule pressure test to make sure you have the right psi

Did he ever do a compression test? Did he try to put seafoam down the brake booster vac line?

@mouse4201
Thank you so much for your reply. My mechanic says that the compression is good. The car is a little weird, it does not go over 10 mph when it is cold and after it gets warm 20 mph even though I put my feet on the gas pedal to the floor. Thank you for your time!

You mentioned you change the O2 sensor and it made the situation worse. This tells me that the issue might be related to insufficient air in your fuel system. Change the engine air filter and clean the MAF sensor. Also, ask the mechanic to check the STFT and LTFT. Hope it helps.

I agree with Mouse4201. When you said that when you floor it, it dose not go, definitely, check the fuel system too.
