Hello i have a 1993 Isuzu Trooper with approx 194,000 miles. Here's my problem. I got my transmission rebuild and after about 30 miles transmission light came back on, trans fluid boiled and came out of relief. Trans fluid was everywhere.. Brought back to the Trans shop where they kept it for another month where they said they rebuilt it again and says its electrical. Took it to my regular mechanic and got code 33, 34 on trans, he could not find anything wrong with electrical but the Transmission Control Module (TCM) was burnt out so we replaced it. Then it happened again a day later. Got new used ECU and TCM, and replaced. TCM burnt out again... Now I'm a couple of thousands of dollars in and frustrated. I decided to take it to AAMCO. They replaced TCM and Transmission Wiring Harness. After about 500 miles or so it happened again, they replaced TCM and it was good for another about 400 miles and the transmission crapped out, transmission oil spat all over the engine bay from the relief tube. Sent it back to AAMCO they said its the Transmission now, so I sent it back to the original trans repair guys. They rebuilt the trans again and said electrical is causing the trans to fail, causing the trans fluid to get to boiling point and shoot out the relief tube, and will not honor another replacement until electrical is fix. They check the cooler tube for the radiator fuild and it was clear. They also stated that the trans wiring harness might not have been replace but Aamco said that it was. I have the car but afraid to drive it. Any idea what may be the problem? I didn't have this "boiling transmission fluid" prior to my transmission getting rebuilt. Thanks
I would ditch the automatic transmission for a manual transmission at this point, but the car might not be worth any further investment like this.
I once had a 1999 trooper which used to have an automatic transmission originally but got replaced by some previous owner with a manual transmission out of 1994 trooper. It ran perfectly fine with the older manual transmission and no TCM (for at least the 5 years it was with me).
cheers,
Great solution.
