Hello I recently bought 1996 Chevy Silverado however there's like a butter feel & look like stuff on my oil cap & when I did the oil change last week there was no signs of water & or milky oil in my dip stick. I checked the old oil that was in the pan & it was fine as well. Please help I'm freaking out i can't afford a new engine 🙄🙄 btw thank you soo much in advance.

That could be condensation from a slight amount of water trapped in your oil. It doesn't always mean a head gasket. If the oil was clean when you changed it you should be alright. If it is the gasket it's just starting and you probably wouldn't need a new motor, just a gasket replacement.

More than likely it is just condensation in the oil if you have no overheating issues.

This can happen if you make short trips and the engine doesn't get hot enough.

You have water in the oil and it's coming from somewhere.

Most common cause: Head Gasket.

Not necessarily and engine replacement issue, but actual issue cause determination and repair can be labor intensive.

If you have the necessary tools, knowledge and experience, time available, and a suitable workspace, you may be able to successfully perform the work yourself.

Otherwise, it's time to find a good, honest mechanic.
